The hurdle that then happens is that 'after' they have attended the first weekend, they brag to their friends about how awesome the course was ... but by that time it's too late. People keep missing the train because they get pumped up 'after' the train has left the station.

So ... I would like to make the testimonials and ambiance thread in each course folder. Simply type up your testimonials and what you thought was awesome about the course. Then, those new Qabeelahs that get this course ... all they have to do is come and view this thread, reading it top to bottom, and then they will have the motivational fuel they need to believe in what they encourage people to attend... BEFORE the seminar and not after.

Bismillah ... tell us what you loved about the Chain of command seminar, and it's ambiance:

I tried to do something like this right after the class ended, but it failed miserably for some reason. SubhanAllah.

Here it is. Maybe if was 'sticky' it would have done better.

MashaAllah, JAK Wasat, my excitement increased as I read your posts

Anyone else?
There must be more people from other qaba'il who enjoyed COC and Sh. Abdulbary!

From the Ittihaad Gems thread.
I hope you don't mind Bushra!

After this weekend I keep feeling that we (people in this age, inshAllah 'we' can rise above this) don't use our brains to the maximum capacity...We don't capture EVERY MOMENT for knowledge...And we dont seem to want it THAT BAD that we don't waste a second that could be used towards it...or go easy on our brains, or our intellect...

SubhanAllah, now I feel like my brain is like a stack of hay compared to those whose PREREQUISITE to gaining knowledge was memorizing the Quran and learing all its rulings...those who by the age of 17/18/19 were already writing books that would benefit an entire Ummah...

What did they have that we didn't? These scholars wrote under the moonlight, or while travelling...they learned sitting on the floor...they memorized facts from paper...they had social lives too...yet they managed to really make a difference...

Learning all these gems makes you want to quit everything, travel to some random place in the middle east, and become a muhaddith...but now I realize that that is not even the point we should take......Even if your major is bio-chem, or statistics, or literature...are you devoted to that knowledge sincerly for the sake of Allah?

And what about all our wonderful study habits......do you think Imam Bukhari PROCRASTINATED learning a hadith? Did Imam Muslim CRAM LAST MINUTE memorizing some ahadeeth? Did Imam Al-Tirmithi creatively find a million other things to do besides his book of Sunan?

I think the main point I'm getting at...is as we post/read all these gems...remember that these are not just cartoons that lived a million years ago...
They are real people who lived about 1200 years ago-and yes, only 1200 yeas ago...

Instead of just MARVELING at how many ahadeeth they memorized.....inshAllah let's remind ourselves that we have no excuse...maybe we won't all become Imams...but if we can make sure that we aren't wasting our potential in knowledge...then inshAllah that is benefecial...

May Allah give us the strength and wisdom to follow in their footsteps, and with that give us the barakah of the scholars...

Re: Chain of Command: Sciences of Hadeeth: testimonials and ambiance

Wa iyyaki Bushra.

Testimonial from me:

MashaAllah, I absolutely loved this class.
Honestly, it was all Shaykh AbdulBary mashaAllah.

He mentioned in class, that when something comes from the heart (teacher), it goes straight to the heart (student).

That is Shaykh AbdulBary in a nutshell.
You cannot judge sincerity, but MashaAllah, may Allah swt preserve him, he seemed so modest and sincere.

If you have a chance to take a class with Shaykh AbdulBary, on ANY subject, do so.
You won't only benefit and learn so much in that subject, you'll get so much more on life.

Specifically on Chain of Command though, it would be pretty a complicated subject, esp for non-Arabic speakers, but Shaykh AbdulBary explained everything so well and so clearly, that it made sense on the spot, MashaAllah.

3 words:
Take the class
