Bread...made of Pig Bristles and Human HAIR! :/

Asslamu alaykum Wa rahmatullahi wa barkatuhu,
I come bearing rather disgusting news.

One of my friends recently informed me that there is an ingredient found in bread products called L-cystine, this product is made of human hair and pig bristles. Its true. Look it up if you have doubts. It is a bread conditioner.

Not that I have any desire to eat it,
but for educational purposes, is it halal?

It's kosher,
because apparently hair is kosher :/

Product I found in our fridge containing L-cystine : LENDERS Bagels. Yuck!

Asalam alaikum,

Hair is the cheapest source to produce L-cysteine. Just to let people know they also use it in some Dunkin Donut's donuts, like chocolate glazed cake donut.

<eeeeewwww!!! Disgusting!!

SubhanAllah, I kind of wish I hadn't found that out! (but JazaakiAllah Khair for telling us)

...how is it considered Kosher?

Does this mean we can't eat bread??

Shaykh Yasir, please elaborate inshaAllah!

I know right.

As a note, ALOT of breads do not have it....just check the ingredients when you buy anything.

Its not a big loss ppl. Who wants to munch hair and pig bristles, even if it IS halal :/ bleh
Just think of all the halal things we CAN eat and stick your tongue out at shaytaan :) Alhamdulillah!!

if you want to make sure non of these sketchy products are in your breads/foods than buying vegan organic breads are the best bet... they are healthy and they taste pretty good... they usually are made from sprouted grains and flax seed and sometimes have cranberries or other stuff. Fresh breads are the way to go too... anything that lasts on a shelf for longer than a week, chances are its not made with anything that you would want to put in your body. It's actually cheaper to make your own bread too, just flour, water, ect.

(now I need comfort :/) lol jk

If we stick to the 1/3 water, 1/3 food, 1/3 air rule, we probably wouldn't be to attached to any food. And we should fast more. Think about the hadith of the Prophet sws and the Sahaba, when they put rocks on their stomachs to stop/calm the pain from extreme hunger! Subhanallah, WE creatures need to put rocks to squash DOWN the food because we stuff up so much. May Allah swt make us nonchalant to these temporary lifely pleasures.

LoL.. this post may be a bit misleading.. l-cystine from what i understood is just a protein..

In the end everything is just carbons, hydrogens, nitrogens... don't freak out over stuff like this (unless it's haram.. or unhealthy).. you know what's in fertilizers right?
