Imam ash-Shu'bah also used to make fun of his son. He would say "I have a son named Sa'd but he is neither sa'd(good fortuned) nor successful"
Imam al-A'mash was the one who was blind who spat to his right on the new student. SubhanAllaah every time i read about al-A'mash he makes me laugh. His name was Sulayman bin Mihran and he was the Imaam of the Qurra' and the Imaam of the Muhadditheen according to Imaam adh-Dhahabi. A guest once came to his house for dinner and al-A'mash gave all the bread that was supposed to be for his family to the guest. The guest ate it all and was still not pleased so the imaam went out and returned with a stack of hay. The guest remarked and said, "What is this ya Abu Muhammad?". Imam al-A'mash retorted and said "You ate my family's dinner so now i have brought you my goat's dinner!" Another time he was asked, "Does Iblees have a wife?" He replied "I don't know, I wasn't invited to that wedding!" |

According to Hesham al-Awadhi, al-A'mash wasn't blind but had really bad eyesight... hence the spitting at the new student thing (he couldn't see the student, but suspected that someone was there)...

Soo...who was the one who refused to teach people who travelled to him from different cities saying they did not work hard enough for their knowledge?
(The reason I am asking is because I handed in an "essay-kina-thing" using this example)...And now I'm scared I said it was the wrong person :S

More questions:
Was Umm Darda'a as Sughraa an orphan? (both parents dead?) And her name was Juhaimah, not Hujaimah? Was her daughter born after Abu Darda'aa's death or before? Was it Abdurrahman ibn Mahdi who related that the 4 Imams of the time were Malik ibn Anas, Sufyan at Thawree, Hammad ibn Zayd, and Abdullah ibn Mubarak? JazakhumAllahu Khayrn
