Post Siqaayah and Suwaa'

An elderly gentleman raised a question during a discussion with the Sheikh (between class sessions) on the use of two different words (Siqaayah and Suwaa') in Surah Yusuf. Both the words refer to the same thing - a vessel in which one is given to drink.

A detailed explanation of the two words (and their synonymous nature) can be found in Lane's Lexicon (May Allah reward the Sheikh for pointing out this great resource on the web):

Siqaayah - http://www.studyquran.org/LaneLexico...4/00000110.pdf
First column, near the bottom

Suwaa' - http://www.studyquran.org/LaneLexico...4/00000470.pdf
Middle Column, near the middle

Jazakallahu Khair. It is so good to see that you found the info... May Allah reward you for your efforts, protect you from hell-fire, and grant you Jannahatul Firdaws. Ameen.
