Ayah 21:

The purpose of life is to worship Allah.

Worship == Everything that Allah loves & is pleased w/ whether in statements or actions, open or secret.

Distanceing from ibada is the root of all evil.

If someone wants to worship someone or something other than Allah, what did they create? if they didn't create anyting, they are not worthy of worship.

Only Allah & His Messenger can tell us what's ibada. Claims require proofs.

How to know these worships? Knowledge. Imam Bukhari said: Knowledge comes before statements & actions.

Ayah 22

2 types of "miracles":
Miraculous signs ex: Musa (AS) & water splitting
Natural Miracles ex: flowers growing, lighting, plants, etc.

What's the point?
So don't attribute partners w/ Allah while you know.

Knowledge is a recurring theme
ex: Kuffar thinking Muslims are stupid; Don't worship other than Allah while you know

Ayah 23

If you have ريب (serious doubt, major issue)
Notice that لا ريب �يه and وإن كنتم �ي ريب

عبد = slave. When this is used w/ a person's relationship to Allah, it is an honor.

عبودية عامة = everybody is a slave to Allah in a general sense
عبودية خاصة = specifically a slave (worshipper) of Allah, obeying Allah completely.

Allah made 4 challenges:
1. Bring whole book like Quran
2. Bring 10 surahs
3. 1 sura
4. Bring حديث مثله a speech similar to it.

At the time of the Prophet (SAWS) people were experts in language so Allah revealed a book which is the pinnacle of language.

2 types of sciences

1-
علم وسيلة Science of a way
ex: Usul al Fiqh, Arabic, Mustalih, Usul al-Tafsir.
These are tools to get knowledge.

2-
علم غاية Science of destination
ex: Tafsir, Seerah, Fiqh

How did the scholars get Fiqh, Tafsir, etc? Via the tools.
If people just learn the tools and not the destination, they don't know much but they think they do.

If people learn just the destination and not the tools, they get "full" easily and don't understand how the info came.

I believe #2 is correct- I am not sure but I think it means that patience in holding steadfast and in not doing wrong. Such as when your tempted to do a sin but you hold back and are strong in not doing it.
(I have the same in my notes though )

I just wanted to say jazakhullh khair for posting your notes, it has been very helpful to have notes to check against my own, and to see how someone might interpret somethoings differentltly than myself, as well as sopme things I simply missed.
