Arrow Al Qasas: New Project!!!

As'salaamu alaykum everyone,

Subhan'Allah by the will of Allah swt we have some thing HUGE coming your way!

Are you ready?

I repeat are YOU ready?

I'm excited about a project currently under development that will bi idhnillahi ta'ala reach awesome heights.

It all started when I was asked to proof read a transcribed lecture for someone and found that transcribing is very beneficial and helpful to others. So I thought why stop here, lets do more. Then I came to realise that a lot of people transcribe lectures for their own benefit and for those around them, and there was khutbah.com which transcribed lectures by Muhammed al Shareef and other sites which has many of Dr Saleh as Saleh's lectures transcribed and in fact they encouraged this to be done by others.

Then Allah ta'ala willed for me to have a brainwave. "Let's form a Muslim Transcript Society! Whereby a dedicated team transcribe Islamic lectures for all to benefit from"

And here I am now working with a few wonderful individuals who are helping me make this idea come to light. And the great thing about working with others is that we share our ideas and combine them to create something remarkable, that's why I say this project can reach awesome heights.

HOW WILL THIS BE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PROJECTS?

Well....

We will have some Super long lectures transcribed, this will for studying purposes. For example, for all you dawah lovers i have transcribed Sh Waleed Basyouni's Fiqh ad Dawah in a manner that is readable and easily digestible. Or what if someone transcribed The Purpose of Life from Sh Khalid Yaseen's audio.

Wouldn't that be amazing. Come on that would be awesome, a great booklet to give to all the members of the MAS or ISOC a few weeks before Islamic Awareness Week.

Not only will we have Super long lectures transcribes, we will have super condensed versions as reminders for us, those to give us an instant Eman Rush! Each transcrupt whether long or short will have action points that can be implemented in your life instantly insh'Allah.

Very soon things will be up and running, insha'Allah ta'ala, but I need YOUR help.

Do you have the sabr and time management skills to transcribe?

Are you a person of grammar who loves to read and wants to be a Proof reader?

Or would you love to write an article based on your favourite lecture?

If so, please email me at alqasas1 (at) gmail (dot) com and we'll take it forward from there (all roles will be on a voluntary basis). Insha'Allah.

Is this it?

Nope.... loads more, amazingly loads more...

We have many things planned. So be a part of it!

There's one more thing that everyone can help me with. The Muslim Transcript Society is in need of a unique and interesting name.

Al Qasas : Muslim Transcript Society > I think the name needs some added coolness to it, and ideas's

Post your ideas right here and be part of something great, insha'Allah,

Jazak'Allahu khayrun for reading the post and hope to hear from you soon.

PS. Also, make dua that Allah makes this an amazing project.

Re: Al Qasas: New Project!!!

Wa Alaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu

MaashaAllah, transcribing lectures is hugely beneficial.

Al-Baseerah has something like this set up, maashaAllah; and many people transcribe Dr. Saleh As-Saleh's lectures, among others, on their own.

Something to note, is that if the one transcribing doesn't do an exact transcription (ie. not word-for-word) they should mention this, so as to not attribute something to the Shaykh which he may not have said. Wallahu 'alam. A sister made mention to me that many people will write 'transcription', when it is in fact, more properly their notes from a certain lecture. So inshaaAllah, we should take that into account.

InshaAllah, this will be a fruitful initiave; barakAllahu feeki.

Wa Salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu

Re: Al Qasas: New Project!!!

assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatUllah,

I am interested in participating inshaAllah so I will e-mail you bi'ithnillah.

As for a name I thought you know how we learned in Rays of Faith that the real meaning of Ka-ta-ba in the Arabic language is to collect? Well for those who are more savvy in the Arabic language, perhaps we have a title with ka-ta-ba in it or something...
I don't know.
it was just an idea that came to mind right away.

but I like the name Al Qasas mashaAllah!

May Allah reward you for this idea. Ameen.

Re: Al Qasas: New Project!!!

this idea is really nice, many people did start transcribing on their own for their own benefit masha'Allah.

Will this be free for the public? and will there be a website etc...? You can really take this to an unimaginable height of success insha'Allah if you take it with a professional/perfectionist mind set.

Exactly, alHamdulillah i think this is where the project arose from, i myself transcribe and see the benefit of the transcribing. Actually i was specking to a sister today at alKauthar course today and she told me how much she loved the traditional reading, alHamdulillah she really pushed me to prep this project up to a new level!

We will have a website and all the transcripts (not word for word, we will be taking Dr Saleh as Saleh's advise and transcribing them in a way that in best insha'Allah) they will be free for the public via the website. SubhanAllah, at the moment we are doing our market research, we want to give the Muslims what they want (meaning all you guys) rather than what we think you want and presently getting together individuals who would like to be part of the project. Also, the project will not only focus on transcripts, for example you have a fav lecture well you write up a really cool article up on it and reference it. So the best of both world insha'Allah.

That is what we are working on, subhanAllah one lesson i've learnt is that planning a dawah project is easy, planning one that you wish to be outstanding it takes time, sabr and loads of planning.

So Br Agamea any ideas?

What do you want to see in this project?

We've come up with quite a few if you want to add any go ahead.

Masha'Allah sounds great, As far as the marketing research how are you going about with that? what steps are taking to accomplish that? (so we can benefit insha'Allah from your experience for any future plans we might have)

yes it takes time and sometimes hardships, but at the end insha'Allah it comes out to be worth it.

Well for the website, try to design it in a very attractive way utilize graphics design to make it look and feel professional and trusted, and not to seem like a low quality product or underground site. It will help I believe. I think you should start the site AFTER you have a sufficient amount of lectures "transcirbed" already, a large pool so that you start off big and with status. Have a request form, or suggestion box, allowing the people to voice the lectures they need from time to time. Obserev to see what the problems are with the Ummah or community nd try to transcibe these lectures first as the khateebs can utilize them faster. Make your project and style different from others, make it unique and creative in the approach and style, people like this. The Qur'an mentions the same stories over and over again but it never gets tiering because Allah is the most wise, and He presents it to us differently in different surahs. I am sure you have this in mind already but I would suggest to make it categorized both by speakers as well as topics. So topics which fall under Knowledge of Allah, seerah, clearing the doubts, etc.. it makes the heart rest when the person sees the category they are searching for in front of them. Also have it by speaker, Yasir Qadhi, Kamal El Mekki, etc... where all there lectures would be under those headings. And stay persistent because you WILL most likely get complaints etc, but stay firm and be patient insha'Allah.

Firstly, as this is a new project i would recommend everyone to work with a partner, this is essential as you get to share ideas, critique them for the betterment of the project.

Regarding marketing research, alHamdulillah i sought advice from the DiscoverU network and Br Sharif recommended a survey aswell as many other excellent points. One of the ways I’m finding out what the muslimeen want is by creating a survey using a program and insha'Allah this will give some statistics on their preferences. These preferences will continue to shape our project insha’Allah.

Another way of gathering information is getting together a focus group of committed individuals and getting feedback on certain ideas we have. The way we will achieve this with Al Qasas is by getting together a google group that is exclusively for the team as well as those members who wish to join solely for feedback.

TawhidFirst: July the 14ish, insha’Allah.

You can either drop us an email now and join the google group for discussion now and start your own project on after July the 14 after discussing with us. Or email me then insha’Allah.

BarakAllahu feekum
