Re: PICS: Graves of the Prophets- Legit?

There's no authentic evidence to prove that any of these are real. The one that is supposed to be the grave of the Prophet (saw) is actually the tomb of that Sufi Rumi. As for the grave of Ibn Taymiyyah (ra) then Allahu 'alam. It's not surprising to hear the Rafidha barking anytime Sheikhul Islam is mentioned, he did after all expend much time and energy exposing their grave worshipping, lie based fraud of a religion.

So ask......how bad is it really?

the grave in medina does contain rasulallah s.a.w.; it just looks different than what that picture claims;

and it makes sense that that picture is fake. The sunna dictates that graves/tombstones should be leveled with the ground; no objects should be placed on them.

it's interesting, but this is one of those things that, even if we did know the answer, it wouldn't really do us any benefit; and not knowing the answer wouldn't make us ignorant either. allahu a'alam

The picture isn't fake, its the tomb of Rumi in Turkey I think.

Re: PICS: Graves of the Prophets- Legit?

akhi dawood, most of those pictures are real - I saw those sites myself in jordan, and I have exactly the same pictures on my computer taken from my own camera. However, if you go with a genuine guide that knows Islam, then they always say "they say this is the grave of so and so" with the exception of where the graves are known. So for example, we know that Muadh ibn Jabal radiallahu anhu died in Shaam during the plague - and we went to his grave. There really is a sweet smell near it. There is nothing fancy around it - just a cloth with arabic with a few details of his life.

As for the grave of the anbiyyah such as Shuaib alayhi salaam, then they always say it is possible - because of the nature of its location. However, there are other places that claim they have the official tomb.
As for the graves of Haroon - when you travel from Amman to Petra, you pass to waadi and even from the road, if you look out with binoculars there is a place on a ridge of a mountain that looks like a spec of white in the redish landscape. That is said to be the grave of Haroon alayhi salam. Again, this makes sense becuase the grave of Musa alayhi salaam is also in the Jordainian valley - it was the known route from Egypt to Jerusalem. As they say, Yusha bin Noon was the one who let the Bani Israel to Jerusalem, but he only saw it and never entered it. And from the location of his grave, that is entirely possible as you can see the lights of jerusalem and bethlehem from the hills of Amman.

As for the cave mentioned in surah al kahf, when we went there, there was a sign in arabic saying that it was the opinion of the great scholar Al Waaqidi that this was the location of the seven sleepers. The problem that I had was that yes, the location was in the hills outside the ancient city of Philidelphia (Ammaan) with an opening out. There was a Roman building of built there and ontop there is a masjid - the ruins of which that you see now is from the mamluke time.
BUT inside, there are only 6 graves visable inside - apparantly the 7 is under the corridor that you walk over (which is ver strange considering the value of these graves, if this indeed is the right location). Also, the point of running away was to be away from the people - however, this cave is actually beside a Roman grave yard, with a natural spring (which has been dry for a couple of hundred years now). Also, the qiblah in the masjid on the site is facing neither the ka'bah nor jerusalem. Lastly, the possitioning of the cave means that the sun does not pass over it in the manner described in the surah.

There are also competing claims that the cave is in syria and turkey.So wallahu Alam.

But in general, I would highly recommend you to go and visit these places - it is such a stunning area of natural beauty and Islamic history - its just incredible. The you can see the sights for yourself and make up your own mind.

Re: PICS: Graves of the Prophets- Legit?

A BIG BIG Jazaka Allahu khayran for all that information Sr. Sara!

Just a question--how would one go about getting a tour of these sites and being able to get someone who would be able to teach the history of these places? Are there certain people who specialize in this area or certain well-known people?
