Long Answers Question

Assalaamu Alaikum,

At our Study Session today, we were trying to answer the long answer questions. We were confused on the third question where we have to describe what we hear, see, and feel in Jannah and Jahannam. In reference to items we will feel in Jannah and Jahannam, is this an emotional feeling or physical feeling?

For example, we were thinking a physical feeling in Jannah would be feeling the silk garments and the refreshing touch of water gushing from springs and rivers. And we thought an emotional feeling would be that the dwellers of Jannah would be in a state of ultimate happiness and bliss, feeling so joyful and with no worry in the world.

So do the items we have to describe have to be a physical or emotional feeling or can it be either or?

Of course, I don't know what the shaikh expects for the answer reagarding the test but I would like to add something to your point about the emotional aspect.

When I read about jannah in the Qur'aan the thing that makes me dream about it the most is the love and brotherhood that the dwellers will feel. No one will have any ill-feelings towards the other...just love, peace and respect.

Compare that to the dwellers of the Jahannam...jealousy, hatred, enmity will be what they feel towards one another. No one will even have someone to give him/her moral support. Everyone wishes that the others get punished more and more.
