"It is not permitted for anyone to accept our views if they do not know from where we got those views from." -Imam Abu Haneefah

...and yes, I did just copy that straight from the class notebook and post it on the gemboard, because why? As the title says on page 51:

"--> Gems from the great Fuqaha"

(would this be an example of juristic evasion?...)

Yes, I agree........BEAT HAADI

My gem:

The fact that we have the ability to push the waves of change and reformation within the Ummah - as Muslim Americans - is an empowering feeling. (Referring to the last stage in class).

Re: Ittihaad's TCE Gems

As mentioned in our activity session by a dear sister, this class really helped put together the puzzles of Islamic history together for me. Previously I knew about the Umayyids, Abbasids, the various fitnas, Muslim Spain, the Ottoman Empire and the many events we studied. Yet because I studied each as a separate subject I never knew how they connected.
Subhanallah, it also goes to show that we are part of chain that links all the way back to the Prophet, at some times the chain was weak at others it was strong. Let's make the chain strong in our era, we can do it with the will and grace of Allah!!!

If we (American Muslims) can solve the crises of Leadership of our communities then things can get normal back again.

This crises of Leadership includes religious as well as political.

Lightbulb Re: Ittihaad's TCE Gems

In the History of Islam, Muslims were either used to migrate to different cities of Muslim Lands or they would become a Minority when Non Muslims would invade and take over. The later might nor migrate because they would have been converts to Islam and would stick to their land as being Muslims in Minority.

But today we are facing an Unprecedented event.

Now Muslims are moving to the Western Non Muslim countries by choice, not by force. And the world of Islam is looking at them with hope, with respect and with honor.
These Muslims can be the future leaders of Islam beyond West, they can contribute to the Islamic civilization as Western Muslims as well as to their own Western Countries.
Today this unprecedented event has brought the issue of Fiqh Minority. Who will solve this question mark in the Fiqh, well no one can help us from any Muslim lands.

We Muslims of West need to take charge of our responsibilities to the Muslim communities of the West, by educating our masses about Islam and their importance of volunteerism. Their activism, religious, political and social work will not only benefit the Western States but also contribute to Islam and to the Muslim Societies. We can be the future of Islam and be our actions we might even inspire the youngsters of Muslim Lands, who are tired of corruption in Politics and are losing respect of religious elite and of Islam.

Now it is on us, to contribute to Islam and follow the path of Islam as Muslims while being the citizen of our country in the West.

May Allah show us guidance and willingness to seek knowledge, wisdom to understand it, power to implement it, passion to spread it and a desire to improve ourselves and our communities in the west and beyond, Inshallah.

"Do not give your heart to any alive A'alim"
because this can lead to divisions. After all they are all human beings and can have a wrong opinion.

>>>ACCEPT DIVERSITY<<<
We will never become a united Ummah unless we respect each other and accept diversity..We can agree to disagree but in a respectful manner..the problem these days is that in general people have no respect for each other and all they want to do is prove the other wrong*..
Let us be the Qabeelah to change that and help impove our Ummah
*To not be misunderstood, I am talking first and formost to myself =)

Arrow Re: Ittihaad's TCE Gems

Many Muslims today think that they can just take what ever is easy for them (which differs by situations) from the madhahib of Islam. This concept of Copy and Past is called "Talfeeq" and is nothing but a way to follow one's own desire.

Instead of this we should do Ittiba, which means that one follows some madhab with the knowledge and education of the rules of Fiqh, and what came from where.

and if one doesn't know the knowledge and education then choose one madhab and follow it regardless of his personal desires on various situations.

Re: Ittihaad's TCE Gems

Yes we should accept diversity.

Why cannot we get united with our Diversity???
We should be proud of it and accept it with our open hearts and minds.
