If we were to repeat a class, what should it be?

asSalaamu Alaikum

If we were to repeat a class Durbah held previously, what do you think it should be?

Please pick your top THREE (3) [AND ONLY THREE] choices for a repeat Durbah class in the poll above. Also, please reply to the thread and state WHY. Anyone from Durbah or Tayybah is free to participate in the poll above, as the majority of the students here are from those Qabaa'il. Students from outside Durbah and Tayybah are welcome to reply and give their input, but not vote.

These are the classes taught by instructors living in the US only, because it is difficult for instructors who live in Canada to come down. That's why even though we've had 18 classes, only a limited subset of them are up there.

In addition, it only includes classes that are still being taught, and not any classes that:
1) Have been reduced in scope since we had them (e.g. Light Upon Light or Fiqh of Love)
2) Their instructors are no longer with AlMaghrib (e.g. Islam Invulnerable)
3) Were only available for a limited time or to a limited set of Qabaa'il (e.g. Sacred Scrolls)

Also, keep in mind that if we do get these classes again, they may not be taught by the same instructor that we had.

NOTE: This is only an idea. It is not necessary that we will have a repeat class anytime soon. But, given the opportunity, we'd like your feedback, as it will be invaluable in selecting one in the future.

Remember, please follow the rules and select only 3 and post WHY!

Jazakumullahu Khairan

My top pick is ROF hands down. It covered so much material I'd love to hear it again.

Re: If we were to repeat a class, what should it be?

wow masha-Allah!!! durbah has had 18 seminars? that's amazing

as for the courses i want repeated, i definitely have to include ROF (my favorite by far, and one that put me at such a high deenically.. i'd really like it again - so i hope it wasn't too recent to retake)

secondly, i voted for chain of command (but i meant code evolved, lol my bad) i've heard great things about the code evolved from my husband and also, many of the questions i had for code of scholars would have been answered in the code evolved.. i remember at CofS, shaykh yasir asked loads of questioners "did you take code evolved??" so.... yea.. definitely on my list, this one

and the third one i voted for was LOG.. lots of people i know say this class was their top top top top favorite and i really am dying to know why.. FYI, i JUST purchased the CD set for LOG but if it's offered so close by us, i might even take it in person

jazakAllah khayr for offering this poll.. i hope we do get to see any or all of these classes again.. insha-Allah all would be of SO much benefit to our communities and those who weren't able to take them the first time, not to mention they'd be a great reminder for those who did.. and Allah knows, we always need reminders...

Thumbs up Re: If we were to repeat a class, what should it be?

Asalamu Alaikum waRahmatullahi waBarakatu

(without much reasoning, I would most likely take any class over...) -However I voted for the following (no specific order)

Rays Of Faith: AMAZING SEMINAR! I missed it at DURBAH & Missed 1/2 of it at TAYYBAH so I really would appreciate it coming back, also its one of those seminars that gives u an Eman-Rush with every second - its PACKED with needed information & its also a good class for both Muslims & Non-Muslims, Newly-practing Muslims & a Hardcore Student of Knowledge MashaAllah

The Code Evolved: SubhanAllah - It clarifies & unites one of the main reasons for division .. The Madhab issue ... I walked out of there with a profound new appreciation for the Madhab that I just never understood ...(also a very good class for the Masaajid Uncles & Aunties)

Rules of Engagement: We all need a "Manners & Ethics" reminder once in a while, A very Life-changing Practical class for Everyone- young or old, Not just does it tell you what one should do, but also equips us with the technique in which to do it! - Aisha narrated that The Prophet sallahAllahu aleyhi wasalam's "Character was the Quran" [Bukhari] - That should be enough reason!

--- I didnt vote for it b/c of "The Limit" but after that would be Light of Guidance: Its Aqeedah- Nuff Said! & Seriously, this seminar changes everyones life Forever - Throughtout the seminar we'd hear gasps (of realization or shock) that things they've done or seen done- is apparently Bid'ah or Shirk, A'oothubillah, Very important seminar for anyone who wants to find out the benefits of faith & its importance (ie: The Tree ayah) & how to ensure one lives & worships with a foundation pleases Allah & His Messenger!

May Allah increase us in knowledge & implementation, grant us Taqwa & Husn al Khaatimah *ameen*

Re: If we were to repeat a class, what should it be?

Rays of Faith and LOG were the top 2 in the list, simply because they were dealing with aqeedah and that lays the foundation for everything else.

And 3rd was Heavenly Hues because it was an amazing class that gave insight on different themes we see throughout the Qur'an. I love the tafseer classes because it helps us understand what we are reciting and impacts a lot more.

Re: If we were to repeat a class, what should it be?

I voted for both of the Aqeedah classes(Light of Guidance and Rays of Faith). These two were up there as my favorite classes because it was regarding Aqeedah, it opened my eyes and I would say had the biggest impact on me of all the classes.

Next, I would say Rules of Engagement, because it deals with mannerisms and ethics which I believe is a topic that is not emphasized enough. It focuses on our dealings with people, which is a beneficial topic for everyone.

Re: If we were to repeat a class, what should it be?

yea i'd have to say a close 4th for me is Rules of Engagement.... if for no other reason, then at least to see Sh. Ibn Faqih again (and to hear him recite Qur'an!) but that class was seriously off the hook goodness

Re: If we were to repeat a class, what should it be?

1) The Rules of Engagement - I found this class to be very well-organized and the material was very practical for everyday living. Classes like this make us all better students of knowledge

2) The Code of Scholars - I missed this class and have not been able to take it at any other location. Therefore, it would be great for the class to come back to NJ so that I can attend it.

3) Heavenly Hues - I wish we had more seminars like this. One can always benefit from sitting down to study the Qur'an in the detail that we did in this class.
