Sh. Yaser asked us to ask ya'll

Assalamu Alalikum Haylers,

Since this Qabeelah is blessed with divine link seminar ; during the divine link ilminar sh. Yaser asked us to ask you all this question. How was Divine Link different than Fiqh of purification by Sh. Abdul Bary ?

Jazak Allah Khairan in advance to EVERYONE who answers

I've been wondering this also.....a good 40% of TPA was about Salah...

He also mentioned that when looking through the TPA binder "only 10% of the material overlapped" so that's 90% of fresh, brand new material that I'll take ANY DAY.

Masha Allah, that's great news Alhamdullilah.

Someone should add this little stat to the Divine Link Seminar Info Page insha Allah

Re: Sh. Yaser asked us to ask ya'll

TPA was more about how to purify yourself -- the fiqh of making wudu, ghusl, tayyamum, etc. and the last part of it was about how to pray (the positions)

in Fiqh of Salah you go more in depth about prayer only and you also learn about the different types of prayer (istikhara, taraweeh, qiyaam, etc) which you don't learn in TPA

Assalaamu aleeykum wa rahmatullah...

Unfortunately, I did not take the Purification Act, but from the titles of the two classes, one focuses on tahara while the other focuses on salah. In Divine Link, we barely talked about tahara... the class assumed you already knew...

Either way, even if the information overlaps in some areas, I think it is totally worth attending both classes... the salaf used to say that one does not master a science unless they study it with different teachers!

And say to My slaves that they should (only) say those words that are the best. Verily Shaitân sows disagreements among them. Surely, Shaitân (Satan) is to man a plain enemy. (Al-Isra 17:53)

And also, the timings of Salah! One of the most amazing sections masha Allah!

Re: Sh. Yaser asked us to ask ya'll

Wa Alaikum Assalam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu

I've only taken the 1st weekend of The Purification Act, but from what I gathered the focus was on purification. Salah was covered, but mainly insofar as the actual actions done in salaah.

The scope of the Divine Link, however, is much more broad and covers many aspects of the salat. The history of salat, its types, its definition, its status. Also, the salat times (in accordance to the sun, their start and end times) as well as the forbidden times of salaat. We also cover adhaan and iqaamah, and the shuroot of salaat, the arkaaan, the waajibaat, the sunan, makrooh and mubah acts. Not to mention the congregational prayers.

I could go on with regards to the content, but inshaAllaah let's leave that for you all to discover and savour. What makes this class even more special are the many different fiqh scenarios presented. After a certain section is taught, there will be fiqh scenarios that are presented, mashaAllah. This allows us to engage with the material just presented, and challenge our understanding as well. These definitely enhance the class, because subhaanAllah so many different scenarios are presented. The many action items throughout the course are also very helpful, mashaAllaah.

On another note, this class had the most questions asked out of all the ones I've taken. The 'mistakes in salaat' session was again filled with many interesting scenarios, and of course many questions. Just goes to show the practicality of this class.

InshaAllaah, you will all benefit immensely from this class, as we all have.

BarakAllaahu feekum

Wa Salamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu
