The Purification Act Gems

As discussed in class, a Gem is a standout phrase, thought, or piece of information. Each AlMaghrib class we like to jot down our Gems in various ways to remember the most oustanding thing learned in the seminars.

SubhannAllah, What struck me the most about the different categories of fiqh is the fact THEY EXIST! There is no other religion in the world that defines actions and their religious levels (fard, mandub, mubah, makroo, haram). It shows the precision in which Islam was preserved. The scholars of the past, may Allah reward them, honored Islam and protected it for future generations. It is a humbling experience to see the struggles they overcame for Islam.

Ibn Qayim (r) wrote a book called I'lm Al Muwaqiyeen. It was about Usool Al Fiqh. The title is so unique because it's named after those people that sign off in behalf of Allah (s). We need to be careful when declaring something is haram or halal; In essence you are signing off on a ruling on behalf of Allah. The Sahabah (the most knowledgeable on Islam) were afraid of giving rulings because they understood the implications of their actions.

You get reward for not doing a haram action for the sake of Allah (s). However if you do it, you get the full punishment.
