Dear Qabaa'il,

As-Salāmu ‘alaykum wa Rahmatullāhi wa Barakātuhū,

A discussion has surfaced in QShams to identify the principle reason/s as to why students attend AlMaghrib seminars. This fundamental question is invaluable to conceptualising marketing; if we don't understand what students are primarily looking to gain, we will never be able to deliver robust marketing.

Though some differences of opinion have emerged in our corner of the world, with some suggesting that students are primarily attending for the Eemaan-rush experience whilst others disagree on the basis of students genuinely seeking knoweldge they intend to constantly maintain, we were wondering about the rest of you guys.

How's it like in your Qabeelah?

I think there should be another option - I attend depending on the topic.

Oh I thought that would mean someone who always comes no matter what the topic is. Some people come depending on the topic.

I think some people join because the think it's cool. They want to feel that they are a part of a group. - well, i guess that falls under the category of brother/sisterhood.

How about being forced/pressured to take it from nagging family members/friends. I ''persuaded'' my brother and sister-in-law to take my sisters and I to Chicago to take an AlMaghrib seminar. They were very skeptical about what seemed to them like a well-organized ''cult'' and were very reluctant to take the class (alhamdulillah a weekend of Beautiful Patience has converted them to the dark side

). I'm sure some of you veteran AM students can relate. How many ppl have you heard of who registered for a class ONLY so they can stop their AM friends to get off their case. This probably only works if you haven't taken a class, but I'm pretty sure one's attitude changes after they experience the first seminar.
