Arrow The Fajr Revolution - official rules

Bismillahi Ar-Rahmani Ar-Raheem

As-salaamu 'alaikum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh,

OFFICIAL RULES

The Fajr Revolution will be divided into 2 phases:

Phase 1 is the Training Phase. During this phase, your main objective is to get your community in the swing of things, to generate momentum, and to try out different schemes and techniques to get the maximum turnout for fajr. In sha Allah, this phase will begin on October 22nd and end on December 13th. The ideas to get the maximum turnout are many. You could organize wake-up calls, go-to-sleep calls, carpools, after jumuah announcements or, better yet, announcements after every salaah, getting participants to bring a friend, ask the imam to give a khutbah on praying in jamaa'ah, maybe have a potluck breakfast on weekends (or potluck suhoor during Ramadan), and on and on. You are only limited by your imagination, but make sure your efforts are put into effective (not to mention halal) methods that create momentum to carry you through the competition month and beyond. Network with the masjid administration and they'll open doors for you, in sha Allah. Which masjid wouldn't want crowds of people coming in for fajr?

Phase 2 is the Competition Phase. During this phase, daily headcounts will be tallied for every masjid. These headcounts will contribute to your official score in the competition and will be displayed on the Hosna website (http://hosna.almaghrib.org). In sha Allah, this phase will begin on December 14th and end on January 11th. As with any competition, remember that if you work sincerely for the sake of Allah, then you've attained the objective. It's not a matter of winning or losing the contest. It's a matter of coming closer to Allah. The contest is just a fun way for us to do this together and push each other to become better.

DETAILED RULES:

1) The Revolution will begin, in sha Allah, Friday, October 22nd after Salaat-ul-Jumuah (have it announced after Jumuah). This is when active efforts will be made to get the community in the swing of things. This is the TRAINING PHASE. Try various techniques to build up momentum that will carry you through the Competition Phase.

2) In sha Allah, the COMPETITION PHASE will start on December 14th (approx. beginning of the month of Dhul-Qa'dah) and end on January 11th (approx. end of the month of Dhul-Qa'dah). In this month, headcounts will contribute to your score. The average of all the headcounts will be your final score. Headcounts will be tallied and submitted by the ameer/ameerah.

3) The masjid with the highest final score wins and gets to host an all expenses paid party where all participants are invited (it will be on a weekend, in sha Allah).

4) This competition is not only for AlMaghrib students. The point is to get all Muslims to pray fajr in the masjid or on time.

5) The brothers who pray in the first jamaa'ah only (even if they caught one rakah or before tasleem) will be counted. Second jamaa'ahs will not be counted. Do not RUN to catch the jamaa'ah if you're late.

6) The cut-off time for sisters is to BEGIN the 2 fard rakaah of fajr prayer at most 20 min after fajr starts. If they begin the fard prayer before the cut-off, they will be counted, even if they finish after the cut-off. They must notify their ameerah if they made it before cut-off time (she will inform you of how to notify her, in sha Allah). The truthfulness of your statement is between you and Allah. In sha Allah, the cut-off time for each day will be available at http://hosna.almaghrib.org or simply add 20 minutes to the ISGH prayer time table. Don't sacrifice your sunnah prayers just so you can be counted in the competition. Basically, pray your sunnah prayers and begin your fard prayers at most 20 minutes after fajr comes in.

7) If sisters pray in the masjid in jamaa'ah, they will also be counted but they must notify their ameerah that they did so. Only the first jamaa'ah counts.

Wooooooow, maaan! This is sooooooooooooooooo cool.

By the way, I was wearing my Hosna t-shirt at the masjid and people thought that where it says hosna it says bosna (we say bosna for bosnia). And then I realized that your logo does indeed look very much like word bosna. That's one additional reason I like it.
