Bid for AlMaghrib in Western US (Washington, Oregon, California)

Let's show brother Muhammad why there should be a class in the Western part of the US: If you are from any of these places and would like to attend or live close by and are willing to drive/fly in PLEASE RESPOND.

doesnt look like anyones there guess its not a good place to have almaghrib classes.

better luck next time.

actually, the only reason i'm hating on all these other locations getting their own almaghrib classes is bcuz it'll delay the whole system and it'll take longer for the classes to come to our already-established qabeelahs

Not really. I'm working on getting multiple teachers working for AlMaghrib, so classes will actually be coming more often, not less often. And more areas will be able to join the Qabeelah system.

If like 2 more teachers join Shaykh Yaser Birjas, we could add like 2-4 more consistent AlMaghrib locations.

So LoveAllah1 keep trying. In the end, the new AlMaghrib location will go to the community that has the most amazing student body. Once again showing that it is the STUDENTS that make AlMaghrib rock!

ok loveAllah, heres a tip (insider)

try to get some really organized ppl from your community to contact almaghrib. bcuz almaghrib doesnt want to go into areas where they arent wanted, but if the leaders of that community stand up and say "we're willing to organize the class" then ustadh will (prob) be down for that. bcuz this way, he's not the one doing all the work, its hte community that wants the class so badly.

you can thank me later...just put it on the tab for durbah

We are working on ppl from our state -I think insha allah we will have enough for the 50-100 student class, but we would really like neighboring states to participate as well -and make it even more successful.
BrIbrafe -aren't you in Oregon? C'mon pledge your support and bring more ppl with you!

That's so true - jazakum Allahu Khayr for saying it so eloquently.
To add to that, most likely the 'people of influence' in your community are not here on this forum. Therefore, for a serious AlMaghrib bid, you would have to go offline (yes, log out of the forums and into the blistery cold air) and search for the 'people of influence' and attempt to influence them.

It's a little tough, but in sha Allah when we commit to a community, it is a long relationship. Teachers, students, knowledge and all that good stuff will gather in that location for many years to come. So it is a long-distance relationship that cannot be easily married.

Come to think of it, I feel like the Wali of AlMaghrib.

numbers arent that important right now. (btw, theres a big gap between 50 and 100. try to get the number to somehting like 80-100 ) and keep in mind you are competing against areas which have more than 100 students. so you'll have to do better than that. but for beginners, its not bad

anyhow

if you can organize the class really well, meaning good location, good publicity, good/influential ppl running the show, then ppl from other states will rush there automatically.
like for ex, the first class i took was in md and i live in nj. but i wanted to take the class so badly, i took a freind with me and traveled all the way out there. in the conquest class in nj, a bro came from chicago, and another from pa.

first, decide whether your community is the type that'll apreciate the class. if they are then start organizing it. contact almaghrib to see what their needs are, and try to meet those needs. then start advertising.
btw, to attract more ppl for the class, you can do a 'promo-weekend' with the teacher. like when ustadh came to nj for the first time, he came one week earlier and went around nj giving lectures in diff locations. basically, promoting the class.

if any of the brothers and sisters on this forum are serious about having almaghrib in their area, they should put some action behind it. stop begging ustadh for it. show him that he's missing out by not coming to your area.

frankly, i would love to see almaghrib out in the west coast...which is why i'm helping you guys

So you're recruiting teachers br Muhammad?.... Might you be recruiting teachers in the UK...? Or have you lost hope in us ? My city isn't that active (relatively speaking) but I'm sure other cities particularly London would attract students...?

I'd love to, but there's not much sisters in inactive communties can do especially when they're so far away from the "active" communities. The most I can do is probably e-mail loads of people almaghrib's URL, I suppose. If there were classes in London though, personally I would travel there (4-5 hours drive.) Sorry to sound like a broken record. I know I've gone on about having classes here since I joined

True but I gotta keep trying innit? You can't get the same experience from CDS/tapes/videos that you get from actually BEING there, not even close.
