Online practice quiz for Light Upon Light

Jazahullahu Khayra to the webmaster. Just a note that the quizzes have not necessarily been checked by a teacher.

Re: Online practice quiz for Light Upon Light

As-Salaamu-Alaikum.
Just took Quiz #10: General Questions from the Light Upon Light (Aqeedah 102) Section.
This came to my attention:

Question # 1
There is no Ijtihad in
A: Aqeedah
B: Fiqh
C: Both
D: None

Your Answer: A
Correct Answer: A
Explanation: Aqeedah is
stagnant, fiqh is not

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm guessing that it's supposed to be constant or consistent and not stagnant.
Check into this.

As far as I know, and I could be wrong, but ma'nawiya and dhatiyya are used synonymously. Both of them would indicate a constant, eternal and static attribute.

So the answer should be B and C.

Sorry, I was wrong...they are not completely synonymous, however they are both constant and eternal.

Sifat Manawiyyah

è Eternal attributes, He always does that, Keeps doing it

è Like A’leem, AlSamee’, AlBaseer

è He doesn’t choose when to do it, he always does it.

Sifat Dhatiyyah

è Attributes that speak of his Essense. Attribute that is a characteristic of Allah. Allah possesses this characteristic.

è A type that is based on Attribution. Attribution of characteristic to its owner.

è Hands, Face, Knowledge

Re: Online practice quiz for Light Upon Light

Sifat Manawiyah are attributes connected to the Eternal names of Allah. The meaning of an eternal name like Al-Samee' would give you an eternal attribute or sifat Manawiyah. Note the rule: Every name gives at least one attribute.

Sifat Dhatiyah has to do with God's essence as was explained like the hand, face, shin of Allah etc.

Actually Dhatiyyah should be a correct answer to this and as for this distinction:

I don't know if we are using consistent definitions here because Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-'Uthaymeen writes in his Sharh of Lum'at-ul-'Itiqaad:
Dhaatiyyah (Attributes of His Essence): They are the attributes that do not cease nor will ever cease to be descriptive of Him, such as hearing and seeing.

If anyone has more info on this, please enlighten us

jazakumAllahu khayr
