Ilmfest GEMs

Assalaamu 'alaykum,

First and foremost, baaraka Allahu feekum to all the instructors, organizers, and volunteers for providing such an enlightening and rejuvenating experience at IlmFest.

I have been asked by some people what was shared at IlmFest. Most of my GEMs were tweeted throughout yesterday (twitter handle @uymm). In shaa Allah I will try to share them here too. Please share your GEMs as well. I know I missed several points of benefit and would greatly appreciate a reminder from you! Jazaakum Allahu khayran.

Allah is As-Siteer.

Be grateful to Allah that He the Most High did not create an odour for our sins, otherwise we would not be able to sit next to each other.

O Allah, please grant them life so that we can show them the same righteousness that they showed us.

O Allah, do not keep them for us (i.e. alive in old age or difficulty) if it will lead them to disobedience.

Prophet Yunus 'alayhi as-salaam called out to Allah from the darkness of the whale using the most beautiful words possible.

{21, 87: Laa ilaha illa anta; subhaanaka. Inni kuntu mina adh-dhalimin.}

Allah responded with what is BETTER!
Allah the Most High saved not only Yunus 'alayhi as-salaam, but extended His saving to us!

Allah is Ar-Razzaq

In the early days of Islam, men were avoiding marrying orphaned women and would instead marry the wealthy women.

Allah says, "He will provide for you."

Don't worry, marry any. Allah is Ar-Razzaq

We looooooooooong to know Allah.

Knowing Who Allah is by His Most Beautiful Names and Attributes is a source of fulfilling our longing for Him the Most High.

Allah Himself tells us about Himself!
The Qur'an builds our relationship with Allah.

The smallest act of faith is removing something harmful from the road.
Now, ponder this.

The GREATEST moment of our lives will be meeting with Allah the Most Magnificent.

We do not know what deed it may be that will be so beloved to Allah that He will permit us to gaze upon Him for even a moment longer.

Allah is Ash-Shakur.

Mention your struggles for Him the Most High and in His way and He promises that He will answer with, "For you, my slave, is Paradise and everything in it."

The Messenger of Allah salawat Allahi wa salaamu 'alayh said:

Indeed, Allah will RAISE people in rank due to this Speech (the Qur'an) and others will be lowered for how they dealt with It.

Ibn Mas'ud radhi Allahu ta'ala 'anh said regarding the Qur'an:

Do not read It like poetry. Pause and contemplate at the amazing.
Move your heart WITH IT. Do not let the concern of you be at Its end.
