Arrow Questions: Fiqh Ad Dawah!!!

As Salaam Alaykum Guys,

I didnt see a tread for questions related to the Fiqh Ad Dawah Set that just came out. InshaAllah if there isnt already one out there we can use this.

Ustad Muhammad - I had a couple questions on the first CD (Titled - What are you guiding too.)

1) You said one should'nt sell his deen: You gave some examples. I belive there was one which you said people taking money for anwering questions about Islam or giving fatwahs, etc.
Q - InshaAllah I had a Dawah idea of going from 1 library to the next giving talks on what exactly it is that Muslim's belive. To fund the activity and also to make some money on the side I though I could sell some Dawah CD's and books (after the talk). I would keep the profit.

***Would this come under the category of selling the deen?***
2) Branding the Project: (I am just finished CD 1) You said that to know if your have branded your project well is to see whether people would wear it on their chest.
Q - I have not started to brand the project, but I was thinking this is for non Muslims. How important is the branding in this case? I wouldn't expect non-Muslims to wear a T-shirt that says something positive about Islam. For example if they visited the seminar, I dont think they'd want to walk away with : " Been there, Done that, Attended the "IslamUncovered" Seminar at my library ". So for non-Muslim projects what can we standardize our branding by?

Jazakum Allahu Khayr for your questions akhee. I've moved this question in to the Fiqh Ad'Da'wah AlMaghrib folder since it's related to the class.

Answer: Basically what it comes down to is this: Which model (for profit or for non-profit) would get the message out harder and get more people to buy into the information?

In some cases, for non-profit would get the message out further. Example: grass roots volunteering in your local community.

Other cases, for profit might the message out further. Example: selling copywritten Cds so that the CD distribution network can adopt it and carry it world wide (vs. a free CD that becomes abandoned after 1 run).

Your intention, in sha Allah, therefore should be for the greater good of the da'wah and Allah will provide.

wAllahu 'alam.

Even if it's for non-Muslims you can still brand it. It's not that they have to wear a t-shirt about your company...but hey, why not?

By the way, when you say

If you can't envision it, if you don't believe in your dream ... it'll absolutely never happen at your hands. If you believed in your potential and had enough purpose to do so, you could achieve it.

I'll give you an example of Christians that pulled this off: YMCA (young mens Christian association). it's a sporting club, meant originally for Christian da'wah, and they branded it.

wAllahu 'alam.

Jazak Allah Khairan Ustad,

Your examples make sense. InshaAllah I will try my absolute best to establish this dawah project in ehsan.

YMCA example was interesting, but I dont think they give Christain Dawah anymore. Wa Allahu Alam.
