so far it seems like only sisters wanna study for the exam....lol

Since we Ansars had sucha large representation we can surely have some sorta friendly competition.Watchya think?

Here is my plan..

Ansars prepare an exam for Asads and vice versa before the actual exam.
It will be a good revision when whole Qabeelah comes together to prepare the hardest exam for the other Qabelah. Also, we will prepare the solution for the exam which has to be purely from the course notes.

And finally which ever Qabeelah gets the highest average wins!!! Now, that will build up more excitement for the final exam

If you all are up for it, lets pick a date. It has to be done atleast a week before the actual exam.....

Waslaamualaikom...

Re: Study Circles (FINAL EXAM)

bismillahir rehmanir raheem

alhumdulillahi rabbil a'alamin (all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds)

alright, here is brief outline of the plan:

as sadia mentioned, we would inshaAllah divide sisters into groups according to the regions (wi, downtown,ss) or according to places where they can meet( for instance there are sisters who would like to study in concordia although they don't live in downtown), or according to the projects they like to work on. I will send an email soon to all sisters asking for their preferred place to study and then we'll form the groups, inshaAllah.

we have six weeks to prepare for the exam, I suggest that we meet two days in a week or weekend as seem convenient to the group members.

in the first 4 weeks we can do our research and write down an outline for answers of the three questions (although, only one from those three will come in the exam, I believe if we prepare all we would be ready to answer any other question that will come, inshaAllah). Then, in the fifth week all mini groups should meet one day to improve on each others answers and to take a quiz prepared by every group for another group. Then we meet another day in the same week or in the 6th week(before Sunday) to write a fake exam.

once we form the groups, we would choose a group leader for each group, who will be responsible for the progress of their group.

I will soon create a detailed plan, with exact dates and times, inshaAllah.

I think its an AWSOME idea. maybe the fake exam that we want to write in the 6th week can be this competition. Both qabeelahs can write the exam paper for each other an mail it to the amir(who is only allowed to open the envelope right before the fake exam). We can set a date, and time to write that exam, maybe mon or tues of the sixth week and then mail the answered exams back to the respective qabeelah… but wait, maybe we should do this in the fifth week, with all this mailing back and forth... some one needs to figure out the logistics of this competition. we should also include students from quebec city and states in this, somehow.

Re: Study Circles (FINAL EXAM)

Assalam Alaikum,
JazakAllah sisters for drafting the detailed examination preparation schedule. And a "Thank you" in advance, for the upcoming detailed version. The brothers have got their work cut out for them.

I suggest prepare an exam and its solution the same time. Then email it to one person incharge in the other Qabeelah. Who will print it for everybody and conduct the exam and later there could be a few people who will check the papers looking at the solutions provided by the Qabeelah who prepared the questions.

Just avoid the hassle of snail mailing back n forth. We are muslims and we can surely compete honestly with a smile

May I nominate Sr. Hajer from Ansar and Sr. Sadaf from Asad to lead this competition insh'allah?

Speaking of Chinese, my notes are beginning to resemble it. I wrote so fast to catch everything, but I am having trouble making sense of it mashallah. I look forward to getting started with the reviews so we can all help each other to fill in the gaps.

Re: Study Circles (FINAL EXAM)

assalamu alaikum
as for the brothers, i think we were about 30 or so. So we can split up into groups of 3. So i guess we can choose who we group up with.
I was thinking we can study with our small groups for about a month or so and then when the last few weeks of the exam approach all the bros can get together with their groups and quiz each other, somewhat like Jeopardy but with Ali as Alex.
anyhow could all the bros from mtl plz email me at hassanjan1@yahoo.ca so i can see what the groups are. Also it would be nice if we could all try meeting up a few times b4 the exam to have class discussions.

tell me what u guys think

Hassan

Exclamation Re: Study Circles (FINAL EXAM)

Even though I declared I do not want to organise anything I feel compelled to start doing so. I drew up two ideas. One is a track sheet to list all the mini study circles. The other is a general layout of the goals we need to acheive and by when they are to be accomplished in each group. Take a look for inspiration purposes. I want to know which ameerah is taking the lead here for us gals.

One brother suggested the guys break up into groups of three or four. We can do the same. Each mini group should adopt a name so we can have some inter-group competition. Each one should have an ameer/ameerah. They are to report to the organising ameer/ameerah for the guys and gals on a weekly basis to track the progress and to catch anyone tagging behind to impliment extra help.

What do you think?
