Fiqh AdDa'wah success story II

Asalaamu `alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

Thanks in large part to the inspiring account from our brothers and sisters in Virginia Tech (see this thread for info http://forums.almaghrib.org/showthread.php?t=1424), the brothers and sisters of ISRU are doing a similar Islam Awareness Week Tent in the heart of Rutgers University this week. We'll post reflections and updates throughout the week inshaa' Allah. Tonight's topic -- The Purpose of Life. Tonight's speakers are Dr. Mamdouh Mohamed (AOU, AlMaghrib's "Faith Has a Language") & Shakeel Humayun.

Asalaamu `alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

Alhamdu lillah, I heard that the ISRU brothers and sisters already got one shahaadah mashaa' Allah. May Allah reward them and increase their success in bringing others closer to the deen. Ameen!

Today, I was speaking to one professor. After a little skepticism, he warmed up and offered to send his entire Law class (25 students) tomorrow night for the International Dinner, Entertainment and lecture inshaa' Allah.

Today, the free snacks and cold drinks really helped bring people to the tables and into the tent. Tonight's topic is `Eesa (Jesus) `alayhis salaam. Tonight's speakers are Shaykh Muhammad Hanouti and Br. Mazen Mokhtar.

Asalaamu `alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

If reports are correct, it appears we've gotten 6 shahaadahs so far in this week's events. Dr. Yasir Fazaqah was awesome last night, after the international dinner (with Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Chinese, Mexican and American food) free for anyone who came by. Allahu akbar!!!

Asalaamu `alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

The tent was rented ... and then many brothers and sisters worked to decorate the tent. They built minarets (each representing one of the 5 pillars of Islam). If you look at the picture in the link, you can see the artwork on the sides to help turn the tent into something looking more like a masjid. The brothers and sisters did an excellent job with the decorations, mashaa' Allah!

Assalamu-alaikum,

Ma shaa Allah, this is awesome news. May Allah (SWT) reward all you who helped out. I soooo wish I could have been there to see ISRU in action. By the way, what were the different events that you all did for Islamic Awareness Week?

salaamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu

the IAW seems to have taken place at night? or is it that the speeches were held at night while the standing at the booths was during the day?

Re: Fiqh AdDa'wah success story II

Asalaamu `alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu,

The pictures in the newspaper were at night. The tent in essence was operating from about 10am-10pm. During the day, we had tables in and around the tent (through the Brower Commons area). We has Islamic Game shows, tables/booths with various themes, free drinks (iced tead & lemonade) and a variety of snacks. The weather was beautiful mashaa' Allah ... it was the first extended strak of warm days, so the free cold drinks were especially helpful. In the evening, we had speeches each night on various issues (Mon - Wed night). Thursday, while the tent came down, the volunteers worked with the local city department to clean up areas on & off campus.
